EAST COAST MUSIC - POLICY GUIDELINES for all Kindermusik programmes

Making the most of Kindermusik classes

Please arrive approximately 5 minutes before your class start time and wait in the back garden waiting area or, if you are late please come quietly into the music room. Dress comfortably and plan to participate FULLY. You will both need to remove your shoes and socks before class. Please ensure your mobile phone is turned off during class time.

For your child's comfort and the comfort of the other class members we ask that toys, drinks & dummies be kept out of sight. NO FOOD is allowed in the music room as some children who attend class have life threatening allergies and can be affected by the smallest amounts of food.  The classroom needs to be safe for everyone!

Please be assured that the instruments used in class have been cleaned before each class begins. During class time however there will be wipes available if you need them.

Follow the Child

The Kindermusik philosophy is to FOLLOW THE CHILD. Your child will benefit more if you copy their ideas and participate fully yourself rather than force them to participate. You are the best model for your child.  Try to relax, focus on your child and enjoy making music with your little one!  Remember that every child has a different learning style and you may find that your child does more at home than in class which is why our home materials are so valuable.  Some children participate fully in class, some learn through observation, some learn through movement, and some will do a combination of these.  Every learning style is honoured in the Kindermusik classroom.  You will be supplied with home materials for each programme so that, no matter which learning style, your child will be able to reinact and reinforce their classroom learning experience in your home where they are most comfortable.

Please feel free to chat to the other Mums before and after class but during class it is important to focus solely on your child during all activities as this is your special time together.  We have tea and coffee provided so you can stay and chat as long as you wish after class.

Sibling Policy

Younger siblings may attend class by special arrangement made with East Coast Music but they must remain either in a pram/stroller or in an adults arms at ALL times during class and will not be allowed to crawl/walk on the floor unattended for their own safety and for the safety and comfort of the enrolled children.

Older siblings are not permitted to attend class unless special permission has been granted by the Educator.

Missed Lessons

Lessons missed due to child sickness or holidays will be forfeited. A makeup class may be available only if you phone or text prior to your usual class and advise your absence. Please do not bring baby to class if they are unwell (If you are unsure please phone your Educator before the class). Cancellation of any lesson/s by the teacher will be rescheduled.

Refunds

Refunds of class fees may be requested due to a family move or serious illness necessitating withdrawing from class. Refunds cannot be given on home materials.
